Tonight (September 12), the MTV VMAs 2023 made a triumphant return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, honoring some of the most recognizable figures in the Top 40 music industry. The complete list of winners is provided below.
With eight nominations totaling about 2022’s “Anti-Hero,” Taylor Swift headed the group of candidates this year. Together with SZA’s “Kill Bill,” the Midnights song is up for Video of the Year, one of the SOS creator’s six nominations overall. Beyoncé was nominated for Artist of the Year despite not releasing any full music videos for last year’s Renaissance.
Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, and others are up for numerous awards this year, while the most recent crop of first-time nominations also includes Boygenius, Ice Spice, GloRilla, Flo Milli, and more. Among the nominees who will be back in 2023 are Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey, Diddy, and Janelle Monáe.
